Zone Systems Control More Than Just Heat

Mar 13 ,2013

Zone Systems ControlA heating and air conditioning system that comes with a zone feature provides homeowners with the flexibility to set and change the specific heating and cooling temperatures in various areas of the house. Installing a zone system is one of the many expertise of Northern’s One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning.

How Does a Zone System Work?

Similar to a multiple-light switch that independently controls the lighting in various rooms, the zoned air conditioning system comes with multiple thermostats, each which control the temperatures in various areas of the house. During summer when the upper part of your house is warmer than the lower parts, the zoned system allows you to set your air conditioning system to run on the upper part of the house while leaving it turned off on the lower part of the house.

In a zone system, the air is supplied by the unit and is distributed to different areas of the house through dampers, also known as valves. These dampers control the airflow that goes to specific zones of the house, such as the bedrooms, the kitchen, and other living spaces. Every zone in the house has its own thermostat, which is set to your preferred temperature.

Benefits of a Zone System

Energy and Cost Efficiency

Zone systems are especially designed to cool down or warm up a specific area of your house while ensuring that there is no energy and money wasted from heating and cooling the areas that really don’t need them.

Flexibility

Homeowners have the flexibility to make adjustments on the temperature levels of the specific areas of their houses while ensuring that each zone is at its optimal and comfortable temperature level.

The zone system can either be installed during a regular air conditioning installation or as a supplement to your existing HVAC unit.

Whichever option you decide, there is only one place that provides Minneapolis air conditioning services and installation—Northern’s One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning.
