  • It’s time to troubleshoot your furnace! Begin at the thermostat. As you’re starting to search your furnace for trouble spots, the thermostat is a great place to begin. Always check to ensure that the thermostat is set to heat, and that the temperature is correctly set.
  • Check your pilot. If your furnace is an older model, that utilizes a pilot, this may be the source of the problem. Some common pilot-related issues include: the pilot’s flame being too low, or the thermocouple being loose.
  • Be on the alert for a blown fuse, or problem with your circuit breaker. Check the main electrical panel to see if the circuit has blown – in this case, you can likely re-set it. If you’re dealing with a blown fuse, however, you’ll need to replace it.
