Most Efficient Ways to Use a Programmable Thermostat

May 11 ,2015

Programmable ThermostatsOne of the best ways to help you reduce your energy costs is by using a programmable thermostat. This is a critical component to install in your living space which will allow you to program it according to your daily schedule. The most effective way to use this is to have your home the coolest or warmest to suit your needs when you’re there and not away from home. Knowing how to make the most efficient use of this specific type of thermostat is sure to come in handy.

Set it per Week

If you have a set schedule like most people, then you can set your timer per week or month if you like. You will be able to look at each day and set the temperature you want your home to be when you get there.

During the summer months you should set the thermostat higher while you’re not there during the day. This will allow you to save money on cooling costs when summer is at its hottest.

On the other hand, when the weather is freezing outside, you should set the thermostat to be lower while you’re at work or doing other activities outside of the home. This will work to help decrease your electric bill significantly.

Choose a User Friendly Model

There are various types of programmable thermostats to select from. Some of these may be less complicated to use than others.

If you aren’t technically savvy, you may prefer a thermostat that is less difficult to set and use each day.
